Laura Pannack

My art focuses on social documentary and portraiture, and seeks to explore the complex relationship between subject and photographer. I am driven by research led self-initiated projects. I am a firm believer that  time, trust and understanding is key to portraying subjects truthfully. My particular approach allows a genuine connection to exist between sitter and photographer, which in turn elucidates the intimacy of these very human exchanges. I aim to suggest the shared ideas and experiences that entwine each frame. I largely shoot with a film camera ,allowing the process to be organic rather than being predefined by fixed ideas, thus removing additional pressure on the sitter. My work has been extensively exhibited and published worldwide, including at The National Portrait Gallery, The Houses of Parliament, Somerset House, and the Royal Festival Hall .

Laura on the Offspring Photo Meet

It’s been a pleasure and an honour to have been part of the Photo Meet family and watch it grow from strength to strength. This encouraging network supports, informs and unites everyone involved. It’s a relief to finally have a festival in London and to bring together all of the wonderful and influential members of our collaborative photographic community”
