Lydia Goldblatt

Lydia Goldblatt is a practicing artist and photographer. She came to photography via the study of literature and languages, and her photographs reveal a continuing interest in narrative and poetic form.
Lydia’s work is marked by a delicate harnessing of light, in combination with a thoughtful and compassionate approach to her subjects. Concerned with identity and experience, her work has been described as “distinguished by an unnerving balance of intelligence and emotion”.
Lydia’s book Still Here was published in 2014. Her work is held in the collection of the V&A Museum National Art Library and has been exhibited internationally, including at the Felix Nussbaum Museum, Germany, Somerset House, London, and the GoEun Museum of Photography, South Korea. She was awarded the Grand Prix at 2014’s Tokyo International Photography Festival.
Her work appears regularly in UK and international press, including Guardian Weekend, Telegraph, and Sunday Times magazines, New Statesman, New Yorker, De Zeit, Wallpaper*.
